What is C2Water?

We’re an Australian based company delivering clean water through subsurface desalination at a fraction of the cost of conventional desalination. By utilising our unique technology, we access a reliable, high-quality water supply from currently unusable groundwater, providing comprehensive Total Water Solution and Land Value Improvement services.

C2Water (SPV) Pty Ltd is a privately held company that owns an Australian patent for Sub-Surface Desalination (SSD), originally developed by Chris Barber and co-invented by Matt Curkpatrick, as well as patents for Closed System Desalination (CSD) and CSD with a Self-Cleaning Membrane System, both developed by Chris Barber.

Our technology portfolio also includes Aquifer Storage Recovery (ASR) systems, a concept pioneered by Australian groundwater specialists under the leadership of Chris Dawson, and now part of the public domain.

Our story

The history of C2Water (SPV) Pty Ltd dates back to 2013, when the company, C2 Water Pty Ltd (C2W), was established by Dr. Chris Barber — the inventor of three patents — and Chris Dawson, the co-inventor of one. The name C2Water reflected the partnership of the two Chrises (C2). Their aim was to apply this innovative technology for supplying clean water from aquifers (groundwater sources).

In 2022, the C2W business experienced a significant restructuring and was incorporated under the business name C2Water (SPV) Pty Ltd. As part of this process, intellectual property (IP) ownership was formally transferred to SPV, which continued to focus on developing multiple long-term CSD/SSD pilot trials with the goal of transitioning these into commercially viable projects.
